HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The choir starts rehearsing once again on 19th January 2022 and we hope to have a full programme of concerts for you to enjoy throughout the year. Meanwhile, we send you our very best wishes for a very happy, and hopefully more normal, New Year!
COME AND JOIN THE CHOIR
From 19 Jan 2022 to 9 Mar 2022
This is an excellent time to join Polperro Fishermen's Choir as we'll all have a few months in which to rehearse for the 2022 concert season. You don't need to read music, no audition is necessary (although we'll give you a quick voice test to check your range) and you'll get a great welcome from a very friendly bunch. We practice at 7.30pm on Wednesdays in Polperro Methodist Chapel. Pop in and give us a try or, if you wish, you can get in touch first using the 'Join the Choir' page of the website.
PHIL CARRIGAN'S HERMIE BOOKS
From 26 Jan 2022 to 24 Dec 2022
Our multi-talented musical director is also an author and has published several lovely well-illustrated stories - even including Polperro Fishermen's Choir and the Wreckers transformed into rather naughty singing black bunnies in 'Honey Bee Meadow'! In 'Hermie Meets The Monkeys' he visits the Wild Futures Monkey Sanctuary near Looe and, as usual, things take an unexpected turn! Click on the link below to see full details of Phil's books and place an order.
STRICTLY KEYS FOR YOUR PARTY!
From 30 Jan 2022 to 23 Dec 2022
The Choir and the Wreckers are extremely lucky to have two such talented and dedicated musicians taking part in everything that we do. You can now enjoy their talent yourself! Phil (our musical director) and Lorraine (our accompanist / composer) will bring their two keyboards with them and entertain you at dinners, parties, weddings and other events. Their album is now available, with a percentage of the proceeds being donated to the choir. PLEASE HELP SAVE POLPERRO CHAPEL
From 2 Feb 2022 to 24 Dec 2022
The lovely Polperro Methodist Chapel, which has been our home since 1923, is at serious risk of closure without urgent funds to carry out major repairs to the roof and fabric. The chapel links right back to the visits of John Wesley to Polperro: the present building is on the site of the first chapel built in about 1790. Sadly, the pandemic has so restricted fund-raising that the future of the chapel is now at risk. The chapel and the choir are doing all we can to raise funds but you can help too. Even the smallest donation will help, as will sharing this appeal. Thank you.
